BRITTA WINTER
Middle School Language Arts Teacher, BRITTA WINTER, has been fascinated by the written word and its immense power for as long as she can remember. It makes sense then that she is driven to share this lifelong love with her Upper School students as they explore the art of reading and writing. Britta’s love of creative writing began as a small child when she would spend hours composing imaginative stories. She followed this innate passion throughout her studies and received a B.A. in English with an emphasis on creative writing at Kenyon College. Britta then went on to earn her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an additional Single Subject English credential. Britta teaches with a workshop approach, and it is her goal to help each child realize his or her natural gifts, interests, and to ignite the spark that starts them on their lifelong journey as a reader and writer. Born in New Hampshire, Britta spent significant portions of her childhood attending school in Belgium and Prague. After college in Ohio, she followed the call of the west coast and settled in San Francisco for a time before moving north to Sonoma County to join THS, eight years ago. When she isn’t teaching or reading, Britta loves to spend time cooking, listening to music, and laughing as much as possible, outside in beautiful Graton where she lives with her two children and husband.
