Dia de los Muertos

On November 2nd, many families honor relatives who have passed away in a commemoration we call Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. This tradition originated in the souls of ancient Mexicans, but now has crossed borders, and is widely celebrated in the United States. Offerings or Ofrendas are placed on altars made in homes and in public places to welcome the souls of our loved ones. The purpose of creating Ofrendas is to bring healing to the living, honor the loved ones who have departed, and hope their souls pay a visit on November 2nd. Our students were able to recreate their own Ofrendas at home and learn about the significance and components of El Día de los Muertos. Here are some examples of our students’ incredible work.
